Renovation Update

Why We're Renovating

At Grace, we believe that every square foot of this space is for people—welcoming newcomers, growing in faith together, and making room for more. This renovation is about more than bricks and beams; it’s about building a place where people can find rest and relationship in God.

Latest Update – May 2025

We’re moving steadily forward! Here’s what’s been completed or is currently underway:

  • Stage framing has begun and flooring in the sanctuary is being skim coated in preparation for new carpet.

  • Balcony carpeting is being installed and new openings under the stained glass are taking shape—one is now fully open!

  • Washroom tiling is finished, with painting set to begin next week.

  • Hanging speakers are scheduled for installation this week.

  • Scaffolding has been moved from the sanctuary to the front foyer, where wall and ceiling work is now in progress.

  • Washroom partitions are expected to be installed in early June.

Thank you for your prayers, support, and patience as we move forward to our end of July completion date.

Next Phase of the Project

In the next few weeks, several important pieces are coming together:

  • A new projection screen is slated for installation.

  • Plumbing for the baptistry will take place on May 27, coordinated with the YMCA due to access through the basement kitchen.

  • New balcony railing supports are being fabricated and expected to be installed within 2–3 weeks.

  • Framing changes for the A/V room behind the platform are scheduled soon.

We’ve also addressed some coordination challenges related to access through the YMCA space. Meetings are in place to improve communication and prevent further delays.

A few additional project costs have been identified, all covered by previously approved contingency funds:

  • Extra plaster repair work

  • Final stage/platform finishing

  • Extended scaffolding rentals and relocations

  • Refinishing existing woodwork, including a test for door re-staining

We remain on track for a projected completion at the end of July.

Milestones We’ve Reached

  • Both the sanctuary and balcony pews were carefully removed to make space for the new seating layout.

  • The balcony structure was rebuilt to accommodate new pews, and carpet installation is currently underway.

  • Lower stained-glass panels were removed and the surrounding walls opened to prepare for new doorways.

  • Our organ was temporarily moved to a safe side location while construction continues.

  • New wiring was run beneath the floor and through the ceiling to support upgraded audio-visual systems.

  • Scaffolding was first assembled in the sanctuary for ceiling work and has since been moved to the front foyer for continued wall and ceiling updates.

  • Ceiling scraping and painting began following scaffold installation.

  • Main floor washrooms were fully stripped, retiled, and are now ready for painting.

  • Partitions are scheduled for installation in early June.

  • Framing, electrical, and mechanical systems have all passed their inspections—moving us one step closer to completion.

  • Construction of the new platform is now underway.

  • The sanctuary floor is being skim coated in preparation for carpet installation.

  • A new hanging speaker system is set for installation in the sanctuary.

What’s Changing

We’re making room—for people, for worship, and for the future. This renovation will bring more accessible entrances, refreshed washrooms, a newly designed stage, and updated sanctuary seating with new flooring throughout. It’s all part of creating a space that’s welcoming, functional, and ready for what God has next.
